Performance Evidence

Before competency can be determined, individuals must have competently assembled, installed and tested a hydraulic system kit on a minimum of one occasion.

Individuals must demonstrate they can:

  • assemble and install hydraulic system kit according to workplace procedures and work health and safety (WHS) and environmental requirements
  • adjust and test hydraulic system kit according to workplace procedures and WHS and environmental requirements
  • complete installation work sheets.

Knowledge Evidence

The candidate must be able to demonstrate knowledge to complete the tasks outlined in the elements and performance criteria of this unit. This includes:

  • basic operating principles of hydraulic systems
  • WHS and environmental procedures relating to assembling, installing, testing and adjusting hydraulic system kits
  • types and applications of hydraulic system kits, including:
  • hydraulic system schematic symbols
  • types of hydraulic fluids and their application
  • procedures for assembling, fitting and adjusting hydraulic system kits
  • hydraulic system test procedures.

Assessment Conditions

Assessors must satisfy SNR/AQTF assessor requirements.

Competency is to be assessed in the workplace or a simulated environment that accurately reflects performance in a real workplace setting.

Where assessment of competency includes third-party evidence, individuals must provide evidence that links them to the hydraulic system kits that they have assembled and installed, e.g. installation work sheets.

Assessors must verify performance evidence through questioning on skills and knowledge to ensure correct interpretation and application.

The following resources must be made available:

  • automotive workplace or simulated workplace
  • hydraulic system kits, manufacturer specifications and fitting instructions
  • vehicle or simulated frame that requires fitting of a hydraulic system kit
  • tools and equipment required to install and test hydraulic system kits
  • work sheets for assembling, installing and testing hydraulic system kits.
