Performance Evidence

Before competency can be determined, individuals must have competently demonstrated that they can undertake preliminary fault finding and machine resetting on a minimum of three occasions.

Individuals must demonstrate they can:

  • comply with workplace procedures and work health and safety (WHS) requirements when undertaking machine fault finding and reset
  • follow safe fault-finding and resetting practices
  • follow and execute preliminary fault-finding checklist
  • document fault finding outcomes
  • comply with work quality goals.

Knowledge Evidence

Individuals must be able to demonstrate knowledge of:

  • workplace procedures and WHS requirements relating to undertaking machine fault finding and reset
  • workplace production processes and requirements
  • fault-finding materials, equipment and tools
  • fault-finding methods and techniques
  • quality and performance measures
  • recording, reporting and maintenance information.

Assessment Conditions

Assessors must satisfy SNR/AQTF assessor requirements.

Competency is to be assessed in the workplace or a simulated environment that accurately reflects performance in a real workplace setting.

Where assessment of competency includes third-party evidence, individuals must provide evidence that links them to the machinery on which they have worked, e.g. maintenance work sheets.

Assessors must verify performance evidence through questioning on skills and knowledge to ensure correct interpretation and application.

The following resources must be made available:

  • automotive manufacturing workplace or simulated environment
  • fault-finding tools and equipment for automotive manufacturing machinery
  • automotive manufacturing machinery with faults that require testing and resetting
  • workplace procedures, manufacturer operating instructions and fault-finding checklists for automotive manufacturing machinery.
