Unit updated to reflect the new standards for Training Packages

Replaces AUMATA3005 Rectify assembly faults in assembled vehicles

Performance Evidence

Before competency can be determined, individuals must have competently rectified assembly faults to vehicles and components on a minimum of two occasions.

Individuals must demonstrate they can:

  • apply relevant workplace instructions, and quality and job specifications
  • comply with work health and safety (WHS) requirements relating to rectifying assembly faults
  • follow workplace procedures relating to rectifying assembly faults
  • use tools and equipment safely when rectifying assembly faults
  • communicate effectively in the automotive manufacturing workplace
  • disassemble and re-assemble vehicle door components
  • replace door trim
  • rectify vehicle water and wind leaks
  • diagnose and rectify assembly faults relating to:
  • door and boot seal faults
  • vehicle body gaps
  • vehicle floor sealing.

Knowledge Evidence

Individuals must be able to demonstrate knowledge of:

  • workplace procedures relating to rectifying assembly faults
  • workplace quality standards relating to rectifying assembly faults
  • common assembly and sealing system faults
  • types and uses of tools and equipment appropriate to rectifying assembly faults
  • sealing system testing techniques, including water and wind testing
  • vehicle specifications, components and systems
  • WHS requirements relating to rectifying assembly faults.

Assessment Conditions

Assessors must satisfy SNR/AQTF assessor requirements.

Competency is to be assessed in the workplace or a simulated environment that accurately reflects performance in a real workplace setting.

Where assessment of competency includes third-party evidence, individuals must provide evidence that links them to the vehicles that they have worked on, e.g. repair orders.

Assessors must verify performance evidence through questioning on skills and knowledge to ensure correct interpretation and application.

The following resources must be made available:

  • automotive manufacturing workplace or simulated workplace
  • vehicle specifications
  • inspection and test reports for assembly faults
  • repair tools and equipment required to repair assembly faults
  • vehicles or components with defects
  • repair and work instructions
  • workplace procedures, including quality procedures, relating to rectifying assembly faults
  • WHS requirements relating to rectifying assembly faults.
